Young Alumni Panel in San Francisco!
Come hear from several of our awesome alumni where they'll be sharing their insights on topics ranging from career progression to personal goal setting.

- The panel will be split between some questions from our moderators as well as Q&A from the audience, concluding with some time to network with the panelists and other alumni. Light refreshments will be served.
- Registration for the event will be limited, so sign up fast! Signups will close on Sunday, December 10th.
Carl Press (ECE ’07)
Carl is currently a vice president at Thoma Bravo, a San Francisco-based technology-focused private equity investment firm, where he focuses on investments in IT infrastructure, IT security, and application software. Prior roles include a senior associate at HighBar Partners, as well as an associate at Oaktree Capital Management and an analyst at UBS Investment Bank. Carl holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Illinois where he also completed the Hoeft Technology & Management Program. Additionally, he holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Kiran Rao (Finance ’07)
Kiran leads Business Operations and Analytics at Sonder, an early-stage startup in the hospitality space. He previously was a member of the Corporate Development team at LinkedIn where he focused on corporate strategy, M&A, investments, and integration. Prior roles include leading Finance and Strategy at a venture-backed digital media startup in the college search and planning space, investor at a growth-stage private equity firm, and an investment banker. He graduated from Illinois in 2007 with a degree in Finance.
Sebastian Rymarz (Physics ’07)
As the Chief Business Officer of Fundbox, Sebastian oversees sales, marketing, business and corporate development. Prior to Fundbox, he was VP at TPG Special Situation Partners and an investment professional at Sageview Capital. Sebastian began his career in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs after graduation with a BS in Physics from Illinois.
Emily Westerhold (Accounting ’07)
Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Emily graduated with a degree in Accountancy at Illinois in 2007. After interning with PwC Chicago, she moved to San Francisco to take a full time offer with PwC audit in the Bay Area. Emily spent over 6 years with PwC serving clients of all sizes and stages in biotech, venture capital, and internet/media industries. She then spent a short time at Glassdoor as the Assistant Controller before leaving for an opportunity to build the Finance & Operations team at VSCO, where she has been for almost 4 years.
